The Art of Not Writing (aka My Ongoing Masterclass in Procrastination)
Look, I know I should be writing new blog posts. Really, I do. In fact, I’ve been thinking about writing one for weeks — and let me tell you, I’ve done an absolutely phenomenal job of thinking about it. The execution part? …Yeah, not so much.
Every time I sit down to write, my brain suddenly remembers 47 “urgent” tasks:
- Reorganize my folders for the fifth time
- Update dependencies I didn’t even know existed
- Spend 25 minutes googling “best fonts for blogs that never get updated”
- Write a new CFP for a conference, thats working out
By the time I’m done “preparing to be productive,” I’ve heroically run out of time to actually, you know, be productive.
I keep telling myself, “Tomorrow’s the day.”
Tomorrow laughs. Tomorrow packs its things and leaves.
At this point, I think my next post should just be titled:
“Coming Soon (No, Really This Time… Maybe.)”
Anyway, here’s my official progress update: I’m still not posting as often as I should, but hey — I did manage to write this one. That counts, right?
So, cheers to me, the undisputed champion of creative procrastination.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some extremely important tab-switching to do.
The image perfectly captures my writing process: 90% coffee, 10% guilt.
